Textile Origin Story:

This textile design comes the closest, of anything I've done, to emulating my hero, William Morris. In the late 1800s he was experimenting in part with creating book matched repeats which is now typical with the advent of digitally created textiles. I cut this repeating sample from a graphite drawing I did many years ago. The file was probably created over a decade ago from a drawing that is easily more than 25 years old. It lives with my brother in San Francisco. The original art was shown in a small works show in Washington, DC and was displayed with a written piece. It was part of a series, both paintings and drawings (and even a glass mosaic mural in a swimming pool!), that were based on a sylph. In this drawing there was a flying bone creature that intersected the main image. If you look closely you can see the rib cage, heart and pelvis.
