Textile Origin Story:

This pattern has been the backbone of so much of what I have done in fashion and interior textiles. For me it is a go to neutral. Its beginning is very dear to me. The original painting is named for an enlisted man I met with his buddy both freshly on leave (Snatched; Renn's Nest). They were heading home from Iraq for the holidays. I met them in terminal B at Denver Airport en route to Boise, Idaho. It turned out that one was a musician and one was an artist. I had my computer and they ended up looking at a lot of my work and loved it. I wanted to honor their service and their excitement to be heading home, but not by buying them another round (believe me everyone near by was already on that!). I was working on a series for a show and told them I would name paintings for both of them. Both paintings featured nests as a symbol of home. I went on to use the nest in several more pieces over the next few years always symbolic of home and family. While the original is a straw color, I took this file to gray scale and also created an ombré overlay.
