Textile Origin Story:

First Kiss is part of a series I painted way back in 1996 and 1997. The intent was to create a surreal version of Renaissance entomology and botanical studies. I really leaned into the detail which was typical of that time period. First Kiss is really meant to be a couple. This was painted on a panel. On the reverse side is a poem I wrote about love. I don't even know what it says anymore as the back was covered with paper when it was framed. In 2018 I replicated this piece again in graphite on paper and gifted it to my friends as a wedding gift.
