Textile Origin Story:

Defiant Heart is a design that came from layering other textiles with one of the Draw Me pieces. I was working into a very specific color palette to bring about this very vintage look. These pale colors are a go to for me to create a feel of ephemera. The basic art came from a drawing called Peace to All Who Enter Here; it's a great name that I pinched from a friend for a piece he did in the nineties. The drawing is made up of jaw bones, feathers, spines, and moth wings. The jaw bones were gifted to me from a friend in New York City. They were presented to her in a restaurant with a traditional Italian lamb dish. In this drawing, the elements present as a flower having the look of an iris or a lily. The textiles I have created from this piece are called Peace Lily.
