Textile Origin Story:

I grew up in the east coast preppy fashion era of the late 70s and 80s. Everyone had Izod shirts and the really cool kids had started a trend wherein the logo had been bitten off leaving a whole in their spendy shirts. Although I outgrew the preppy wardrobe, I never escaped my obsession with madras plaids. The textiles Charlie and Bunny are both original art overlaid with transparent madras plaid colors. Charlie is two pieces of art (so in total it took 4 layers!). It combines the drawing used in the Peace Lily textile and the foliage from a mural I painted of a lemon tree. You can actually see the jaw bones and teeth from the drawing if you look closely. Know that if madras plaid is also your jam that I suspect I still have many of these in me!
