Textile Origin Story:

The Jill pattern came from a pair of murals I painted with two other amazing artists, Holly Williams and Roger Preston. The companion piece to this became the pattern Emma. The sunflower focal piece was painted by Holly. I snatched her out of the graduating class at Otis that year. These were two very large flower arrangements done in trompe l'oeil stone urns, which were painted by Roger. Holly and I pulled a lot of our reference from the French botanical artist, Pierre-Joseph Redouté. The original pieces were multi-colored but I changed direction on the digital design. I wanted the textiles to have that 40s era quality. It's often my touchstone when working on florals.
