Textile Origin Story:

This pattern has been the backbone of so much of what I have done in fashion and interior textiles. For me it is a go to neutral. I love that this piece has an amazing reach with Defiance and Studio2eleven. I am forever bonded to its history. It is one of the archive patterns from the original Studio2eleven Textile Company. Its beginning is very dear to me. The painting is named for an enlisted man I met with his buddy both freshly on leave. They were heading home from Iraq for the holidays. I met them at the bar at Pour la France in terminal B at Denver Airport en route to Boise, Idaho. It turned out that one was a musician and one was an artist. I had my computer and they ended up looking at a lot of my work and loved it. I wanted to honor their service and their excitement to be heading home, but not by buying them another round (believe me everyone near by was already on that!). I was working on a series for a show and told them I would name paintings for both of them. Both paintings featured nests as a symbol of home. I went on to use the nest in several more pieces over the next few years always symbolic of home and family. This one is called "Snatched; Renn's Nest." It found a home with a client of mine who also has pillows made from the textile, living on a sofa nearby where the piece hangs. The other piece is called "The Key to Richardson's Joy." It is such a tiny section of the nest that I sampled for the textile design, but it grew into so much more!
